Fulfillment Hub USA – Display Previous Shipping Errors in “Hospital” Totes
In many warehouses, when something goes wrong during the shipping process, the common practice is to:
-
Put the problematic tote aside on a “hospital” cart or shelf.
-
Have a supervisor or manager scan the tote later to troubleshoot the order.
The problem used to be: if the issue was caused by the shipping carrier, the manager had to try shipping again just to see the error message.
ShipHero now solves this by showing the previous carrier error as soon as the tote is scanned—no need to reattempt the shipment.
Prerequisite: “Hospital” Order Status
To use this workflow, you first need a dedicated “hospital” order status in ShipHero.
Note:
The “hospital” order status must be created in your account.
If you need help, see How to Create a Custom Order Status and configure your “Hospital” status accordingly.
When Will Previous Shipping Errors Be Displayed?
For an order placed in Hospital, ShipHero will show the previous shipping error if all of the following are true:
-
The order in the tote has had at least one shipping attempt within the last week.
-
That shipping attempt resulted in an error.
-
The same tote is being used that was used during the failed shipping attempt.
If all three conditions are met, ShipHero will automatically display the previous error.

When you click “Read More”, ShipHero displays the exact carrier error message from that previous shipping attempt. This allows the manager to:
-
See precisely what went wrong (address issue, service type, weight mismatch, etc.).
-
Take corrective action without re-submitting the shipment blindly.
Using the sh_hospital Command Barcode
To streamline this workflow on the floor, you can use ShipHero’s command barcode:
-
Scan the
sh_hospitalcommand barcode to:-
Move an order into the Hospital status.
-
Automatically advance to the next order in your picking/shipping flow.
-
For easy access and training, refer to the Command Barcode Sheet and place printed command barcodes at pack stations or supervisor desks.
