What can I change on an Order that has an Order Lock?

There are several reasons that an order may need to be updated after the fulfillment process has already been started, including adding items, changing the shipping address, etc. In this article, we will take you through the various changes that can be made to an order and which required the order to be reprocessed or not. 

If you do not want the current shipment to go out, put it on hold; do not clear the order lock, and partner with the warehouse to stop the fulfillment process. The order will still be picked, but once it reaches the packing station the packer will receive a prompt that there is a hold on the order and will not be able to move forward until it is released.

Once you have the tote and have made the changes to the order in app.shiphero.com, you can then clear the tote and reprocess the order for the changes to take affect.

NOTE: If the order has already been picked and the packer is already in the packing process, there’s no systematic way to stop the order from shipping. The packer would need to be told to stop processing the order. 

 

Changes that require an order to be reprocessed after the lock is cleared.

  • Changes to item information on the order; i.e., customs value, price, discount, etc. 

  • Increasing or decreasing the quantity of an existing item.

  • Adding new items to the order. Unless the shipment is able to be stopped, the additional items will not be processed or shown as allocated until the current shipment is shipped. 

  • Removing items from the order.  

Changes that do not require an order to be reprocessed after the lock is cleared.

  • Address changes.
  • Shipping Method updates.

  • any changes to the order detail flags.
